Attorney Profiles
Howard spent the early part of his legal career as a litigator for the City of Chicago, where he worked in the Torts Division of the Office of General Counsel, and as a claim attorney for Shand, Morahan and Company, handling professional liability claims involving architects, engineers and attorneys in the western United States. Howard has also served as Litigation Manager for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, where he designed and implemented the insurance industry's first legal audit program; drafted and implemented the carrier's alternative dispute resolution (ADR) manual; and adopted its first nationwide litigation manual. In his most recent position before joining Myers and Miller, Howard served as Assistant General Counsel at Ace USA Insurance Company (formerly Cigna Property and Casualty Company). In that capacity, he counseled the claim departments in his region on a wide range of matters and developed a special expertise in insurance coverage matters. He was responsible for coverage analysis and opinions for the western United States with a special emphasis on Illinois, Texas and California. He brings experience in personal, commercial and specialty lines of business including claims of product liability, trucking, nursing home and construction cases.
